BRIEF HISTORY OF TRAIL LIFE USA GOT STARTED AND WHY IT EXISTS
Trail Life USA has been a program decades in the making. In the opening decade of the 20th Century, British General Robert Baden-Powell began a movement utilizing the outdoors, adventure, and fun to prepare boys to face life with a can-do attitude of self-reliance, courage, and honor. The model relied on society to help supply the single most important attribute of maturity – spiritual development in a “define your own faith” model.
As culture has drifted from a Judeo-Christian worldview, the need for a specifically Christian evangelical program inviting biological boys of all faiths and backgrounds to grow to become godly men has become increasingly apparent.
In the spring of 2013, a spark ignited tinder that had been accumulating for decades. That ember has grown as Trail Life USA has spread across the nation challenging boys and men to “‘Walk Worthy’ of the Lord…being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” – Col 1:10 NKJV.

WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL WILDERNESS TRIP?
That day each boy rose to the occasion and played an important role in the life of the Troop. Each boy had spent time preparing for this moment and had an important job to do. As the boys reflected on their actions that evening, they clearly saw the importance of structure, planning, teamwork, caring for others, and not giving up. No one had to lecture or instruct them, adults asked questions to guide the conversation and learning took place as boys reflected on their experience.

The outdoor provide a natural environment where the experience of adults is never obsolete and boys once again look to emulate the faith, character, and leadership of male mentors.
