BRIEF HISTORY OF HOW THRIVE ADVENTURES GOT STARTED AND WHY IT EXISTS
Thrive Adventures was launched in the Fall of 2018 by a group of folks who formerly worked together for Lifelines, the outdoor ministry of Cru. We have teams currently located in Bar Harbor, ME and Asheville, NC with an additional team coming on-line in Colorado in the Fall of 2019/Spring of 2020. With 50+ cumulative years of outdoor ministry experience working specifically with college students, our desire was to step off of the college campus and begin to offer Christ-centered outdoor experiences to local churches, schools, businesses, and organizations in addition to college students.
DURATION OF TRIPS OFFERED
Trips range anywhere from 1 to 7 days.
EXPEDITIONARY LEARNING ELEMENTS INCLUDED ON TRIPS
- Daily devotion or quiet times
- Solo experience (either a few hours or day-long solos)
- Teachable moments or trail talks along the journey
- Having participants share their testimony or life story
- Peak climbs
- Rock climbing
- Rafting
- Sea Kayaking
- Canoeing
- Backpacking
- Practicing and Teaching Leave No Trace Ethics
- Other: Outdoor experiential learning initiatives which serve to unpack a particular outdoor experience and connect it to life back at home with God and others
WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL WILDERNESS TRIP?
A successful adventure trip would be one in which participants were encouraged in their pursuit of Christ while also being challenged in regards to the way they live out the grace and truth of the Gospel in their relationships at home

With our outdoor experiential learning initiatives, we are able to make connections from the participant experience in the field to a relationship with Christ rather seamlessly and in a non-threatening and inviting manner.
