BRIEF HISTORY OF HOW ROCK-N-WATER GOT STARTED AND WHY IT EXISTS
Still under the same leadership it was co-founded under 25 years ago, Rock-N-Water uses the organic challenges of the outdoors to build relationships, challenge individuals, have a lot of fun… We think its the best platform for youth ministry there is. In the last decade we have focused more on how to provide the optimum environment for students to have soal moving experiences while realizing their Creator and Savior in the midst of what He has made for them. While we don’t see our modern life-styles as a problem we do see that students are needing to connect to their creator through nature. We have refined the garden to such an extent that we no longer need to be inconvenienced by it. Groups like ours and Christian leaders need to ask, “How does growing up indoors effect the spiritual development of today’s students?”
WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL WILDERNESS ADVENTURE TRIP?
Success is when every student in a guide’s small group responds to being challenged mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually – appropriate to their stage of development for each category.
HOW ROCK-N-WILD INTRODUCES PEOPLE TO CHRIST
Individuals may get introduced to Christ through their relationship/challenges from their guide, one-on-one. Each youth group’s biblical program is customized depending on their needs.
DURATION OF TRIPS OFFERED
They offer 1-5 day trips.
EXPEDITIONARY LEARNING ELEMENTS TYPICALLY INCLUDED IN THEIR TRIPS
- Daily devotion or quiet times
- Solo experience (either a few hours or day-long solos)
- Teachable moments or trail talks along the journey
- Rock climbing
- Rafting
- Backpacking
- Other: Canyoneering, Lots of Fun and challenges
COSTS
Trips cost in the range of $250-$300.
