A BRIEF HISTORY OF JOURNEY QUEST AND WHY THEY EXIST
In late 2011, Vessels for Honor Rafting Co (VFH) was purchased by Journey Quest, a non-profit Christian wilderness ministry dedicated to providing “Christ-centered wilderness journeys, challenging young and old alike to pursue the ultimate quest: a lifelong relationship with Christ.”
VFH was founded by Dwight & Sandy Grant, now Camp Administrator at Penn-York Camp in Ulysses Pennsylvania. Dwight and Sandy operated VFH through the summer of 2011. The inspiration behind the name Vessels For Honor comes from the Biblical passage in 2 Timothy 2:21
: “Therefore, if any man cleanses himself from these things he will be a vessels for honor, sanctified, useful to the master, prepared for every good work.”
Journey Quest continued to operate as Vessels for Honor Rafting through the 2012 rafting season to give time to introduce Journey Quest’s ministry to returning VFH guests and clients. Dwight Grant helped Journey Quest with guide training, and half of the guides that summer returned from previous seasons with VFH.

HOW JOURNEY QUEST INTRODUCES PEOPLE TO CHRIST AND HELPS THEM GROW IN THEIR FAITH
Romans 1:20 tells us that “since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Life is full of moments that point us to God and if we take the time to allow him to, the Holy Spirit can teach us profound lessons about the Lord, life, and our own hearts. We call these teachable moments. At Journey Quest we train our staff to recognize and make the most of these moments to point each guest to Christ. This allows trips to be both physically and spiritually challenging to group members.
