Street Level Experiential Learning | Modern Widow’s Mite Illustrations

A modern illustration of the Parable of the Widow’s Mite is just one click away. The event you are about to watch is experiential learning at it’s best. The widow Jesus described gave out of the little she had, and the heavens took notice and celebrated her generous heart.  Luke 21:1-4 reads:

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

HOW ARE YOU LIKE THE LITTLE GIRL IN THIS STORY?

In the clip below, a little girl puts a coin in a street performer’s hat, and a street performer celebrated her generous heart. She gave a tiny token only to be given back more than she ever could have expected… Isn’t that just like Jesus. When we give what little we have to Christ, he meets us with surprise after surprise… blessing after blessing… extravagant generosity after extravagant generosity.

As you watch this clip, put yourself in the little girls shoes. Are you giving all you have to Jesus? And how is he continually surprising you with awesome generosity? Sit in awe as you watch this modern-day illustration of the Widow’s Mite.

THEN ASK YOURSELF, IS GOD CALLING ME TO BE LIKE THE STREET PERFORMERS FOR SOMEONE ELSE? THAT’S THE REAL STORY…
