Welcome to my first webcast for outdoorleaders.com! I am excited to share some ideas and encouragement with you though video. The video quality on my first couple videos isn’t the best but have fixed it for future recordings. Enjoy!

ADAPTATION AS A LEADERSHIP SKILL

Crisis is disorienting. Disorientation can quickly lead to trouble without leadership. Time in the wilderness prepares leaders with necessary adaptation skills to rise up out of confusion with confidence.

In this episode, Ashley discusses how David is a model of the courageous and skilled leadership that our world needs today. We highlight how his time in the wilderness was a key context for him becoming the type of leader who was willing to step into a leaderless vacuum that existed at this moment in Israel’s history.

When things change it is the perfect time to adapt and be a rapid decision maker. I hope you are encouraged in your leadership and listen to how God might be calling you to lead with authority in the midst of crisis. Think about how you can be serving to further what God wants to do.

REFLECTION

  1. Where is your confidence coming from?
  2. Are you stepping out with your skills to serve people?

ACTION STEPS

  1. Think about young leaders you know.
  2. Pray for them.
  3. Invite them to do something challenging with you. Don’t lead everything.
  4. Give them decision making opportunities when you notice the conditions (weather, attitudes, emotions, etc) are changing.
