SPRUCE LAKE WILDERNESS CAMP’S MISSION

Pointing people towards Christ

BRIEF HISTORY OF HOW SPRUCE LAKE WILDERNESS CAMP GOT STARTED AND WHY IT EXISTS

Spruce Lake was founded in 1963 as an overnight wilderness summer camp. In 1995 our offsite Expeditions program began and has been running strong ever since. Our goal is to take campers into God’s creation to allow them the freedom of experiencing God in an intimate way that our fast paced society does not accommodate. We realize that when you are in close commune with the Lord, a vulnerability comes out. We strive to help walk campers through that vulnerability and teach them not to run from it. We openly present the Gospel every week, and are deliberate to have one-on-one conversations with each participant on our trips

WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL WILDERNESS TRIP?

Success on our trips is defined by two things:
1. Was the Gospel clearly presented and did our guides have a meaningful spiritual conversation with each camper?
2. Did the campers have fun, eat well, and come back in the same physical and emotional condition they left in?

HOW SPRUCE LAKE WILDERNESS CAMP POINTS PEOPLE TO CHRIST AND HELPS THEM GROW IN THEIR FAITH

During the day, “solo” time is set aside and our campers are given a devotional booklet to read/journal through. In the evenings our guides lead a campfire teaching time, where they go through the booklets with the campers and discuss what they read that day.

Your guides were awesome according to (camper). She enjoyed the smaller number of girls this year and building relationships in the outdoor setting.
